Antibes, Alpes-Maritimes, Apr 28, 2026 – The European photonics community is gathering this week at the EPIC AGM & Summit 2026, hosted by the European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC). The event brings together more than 400 C-level executives and industry leaders to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and technologies shaping the future of photonics.
At this year’s summit, the SuperHero League introduced a collaborative industry initiative developed in partnership with EPIC and leading photonics companies, including OPTOMAN, Cailabs, TOPTICA, and Acktar. The SuperHero League offers a fresh and creative approach to industry engagement. The initiative launches with a limited-edition comic book, using a narrative-led format to introduce the project, its founding members, and the shared challenges facing the laser and photonics sector. The SuperHero League aims to redefine networking within the photonics ecosystem by creating a collaborative platform where scientists, engineers, executives, and industry professionals can exchange knowledge, share expertise, refer opportunities, and build meaningful partnerships. By combining technical expertise with a more accessible and engaging format, the initiative also aims to raise wider awareness of photonics and its impact across industries.
The concept reflects a simple industry reality: photonics challenges are becoming increasingly complex, interconnected, and multidisciplinary. No single company can solve them alone. Progress depends on collaboration across technologies, organizations, and areas of expertise.
Photonics is at the core of many of today’s most critical technologies, from advanced manufacturing to defense, healthcare, and space. Strengthening collaboration across the ecosystem is essential to accelerate innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Lukas Ceizaris, CMO at OPTOMAN.
