Bring your superpower to light

July 1 – August 31
Paid internship
Up to 15 selected participants

Summer can be just another summer.
Or it can be the one where you discover that you belong on a superhero team.

OPTOMAN Academy Internship is a paid 1–2 month summer internship for physics and engineering students who want more than a line on their CV. It is designed for curious, ambitious people who want to step into real production, real technology, real problem-solving, and real product thinking from day one. The current Academy concept positions internship as the first stage in a broader development system that also includes learning, mentorship, mobility, and leadership.

Why Superhero Academy?

Not a spectator seat. A real starting point.

We believe everyone has a superpower. What matters is getting the right environment to discover it, test it, and strengthen it. OPTOMAN Academy Internship was created for students who want to learn by doing. You will not spend the summer passively observing from the side. You will enter the real environment, build practical understanding of products and processes, work on meaningful assignments, and get feedback from the people who do this work every day. That hands-on, high-ownership culture is consistent with how OPTOMAN presents itself publicly: impact is visible in physical reality, people are trusted early, and growth is built into the experience.

What your summer at OPTOMAN can look like

The Academy materials define this as a structured path where people prove readiness through practical work, learning, and skills evidence rather than through theory alone.

During the program, you will:

  • Get to know OPTOMAN from the inside
  • Start from the production environment and product fundamentals
  • Learn how quality, precision, and process discipline work in real life
  • Work on real challenges, not simulation-only tasks
  • Receive feedback and track your progress
  • Get a chance to continue into a more advanced product idea development stage if you perform strongly

How selection works We select for potential

We will invite up to 15 of the strongest candidates into the program. We are not only looking at what you already know today. We are also looking at how you think, how fast you learn, how you approach problems, and how much drive you bring.

  • A cognitive ability test
  • An interview

How the internship works

01

Production Internship

The program starts in production because we believe the best understanding of product, quality, process, and responsibility begins where value is created in reality. The Academy structure explicitly uses production as the foundation for later growth and mobility.

During this stage, participants rotate through core parts of the production environment and build first-hand understanding of how OPTOMAN works. The current internship outline includes exposure to production-related areas such as blasting, optics preparation, operator work, metrology, and optical coating engineering.

02

Production Challenge-Solving Assignment

At the end of the first month, participants present a solution to a production-related problem. This is the point where learning turns into demonstrated thinking: identifying causes, analyzing the situation, and proposing practical solutions.

03

Skills Passport Assessment

Throughout the internship, progress is tracked through the Skills Passport. This reflects the broader Academy approach, where development is made visible through practical evidence and progression standards.

Participants are assessed across three levels:

  • Aspiring Superhero
  • Sidekick
  • True OPTOMAN
04

Advanced Internship for Top Performers

The strongest participants may continue into a more advanced Product Idea Development Internship, where the focus expands beyond production into product logic, market understanding, experimentation, and idea development. The Academy outline links this stage with optical design, market analysis, stage-gate logic, and final product pitching.

05

Final Presentation and Graduation

The program closes with a final presentation, certificate award, and closing event.

This program is for you if…

  • You are a physics or engineering student
  • You are curious about technology, production, engineering, innovation, or product development
  • You want real exposure, not just formal internship completion
  • You are responsible, motivated, and willing to challenge yourself
  • You want to understand where your strengths fit best in a real business environment
